Stories | Loving Valentine’s Day

Christmas is over, NYE seems like a decade ago, we are back at work and January has hit us hard with its cold and rubbish weather. Not so bloomy prospects! But warm reds and a sense of love is waiting for you in February: Valentine's Day is almost here! Here's 7 reasons why you should be loving the day of love!

#1 Nothing like the Present

Now that the ~official~ holidays are over, invitations and gifts have been exchanged, Valentine’s day provides another window of opportunity to relive parts of the cosy holiday atmosphere with someone you love. Que candle-lit dinners, thoughtful gift exchanges, and maybe a few secret admirer revelations!

#2 Painting the Town Red (literally!)

Red roses, red teddy bears, red clothing, everybody has their own variations on their display of red on February 14th. The colour is a symbol of love, passion, strength and determination. So, let the colour inspire you to be courageous and tell that someone how you really feel! (p.s. preferably limited to lovey-dovey feelings).

#3 Chocolate Droplet

Okay, maybe it’s not so much a chocolate droplet as it a whole box full of chocolate droplets. Whether it’s a local Chocolatier’s creation, or an exclusive Valentine’s day edition, chocolate makers go all-out on this day! Plus, any droplet you don’t like (unlikely) can just be washed down by another one from the box!

#4 Valentine’s day Movies

The day of Valentine is also a day of binging on the classic romantic movies, i.e. the Notebook, Titanic, or more alternative movies such Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and 500 Days of Summer. On this special day, you don’t have to come up with an excuse to watch a cringy rom-com… or 50 Shades of Grey.

#5 Cas’ Dinner at the Hall of Hogwarts

Speaking of movies…how about stepping into one? On this Valentine’s day, Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London opens its doors to the iconic Great Hall, where the Harry Potter movies were filmed. Tickets include a table for two, a 3-course meal, special 'Love Potion' drinks, and a tour of other famous sets in the movies, for all you Potterheads out there!

#6 The More the Merrier

For those of us who can’t afford to break the bank for those Hogwarts tickets, or bizarrely couldn’t score any dinner reservations on February 14th, Valentine- themed parties and events are the place to be. Those loved-up can celebrate among friends, and those who are single get to mingle ;)

#7 All you Need is Love

Valentine’s day is a day to celebrate love with everyone in your life; partners, friends, families and colleagues. February 14th means different things to different cultures all over the world. Finnish up the day and spread the love, not just to your significant other, but to everyone, including neighbours and even your pets!
